Press Start

Two things are most important in a gaming logo.

The Name.

And the Symbol.

Early on through the process, the name Crono was chosen. Based on the god of time, this system accurately represents its ability to play games from all time periods.

Symbolism

When developing the logo, symbols from controllers were a major inspiration.

Some of the most iconic gaming brands consist of easily recognizable shapes on their controller.

With Crono, this design ideology was used for almost every aspect of the project.

Colors

Color choices were simple: four primary colors to help make the brand easily visible and useable, with a dark and light grey to let the vibrant colors pop off the display.

Type

Lato was the perfect choice for Crono. The typeface is easily legible in both Light and Regular as well as Italics. Because the entire concept is at an angle, a nice legible typeface in Italics works perfectly.

Integration

Making the logo represent a part of the controller while utilizing all four colors of the color palette creates an easy integration to the product design.

Off the Shelf

Brand language is prominently represented in the packaging as well.

Showing only an illustration of the system and controller on the front allows for branding to stay focused and helps customers acclimate to the Crono aesthetic.

The Interface

With simple navigation in mind, incorporating the logo into the interface creates not only a strong bond with brand, but also makes navigating the menus extremely intuitive.
